Support

How Sterling House is funded…

Sterling House is mostly funded by the very people who are enjoying the programs and services provided. These funds barely cover half of the costs to keep the Sterling House doors open. Contributions and fund raising events are the next largest sources of income; generous support we receive from the community of Stratford and beyond.

A widely held misconception is that Sterling House is a municipal branch of the Town of Stratford. 11% of our budget is from the Town, which is most appreciated and a significant source of income. This is especially important as it provides staff funding for our Youth In The Community Program, where staff recruit, screen and refer youth to volunteer opportunities. Since 1989 this program has linked over 5,000 youth with volunteer experiences.

Sterling House depends on many resources to operate the array of programs and activities enabling the center to positively impact children, teenagers and adults yearly. We are thankful for the community spirit and support we receive by attending great fund raising events, making a monetary donation as well as providing such tangible items as food, school supplies, holiday gifts and all the fixings for a wonderful thanksgiving dinner; by becoming a member; enrolling in a class; and/or volunteering to be a coach, help in the office or nursery/pre-school, on a board or council committee as well as on a fund raising committee.

WHEN SUPPORTING STERLING HOUSE PLEASE REMEMBER:

Sterling House’s greatest asset and eventual legacy lies not in the programs that the general public sees, BUT rather in the quiet acts of support and kindness given to individuals and families caught in the crossroads of life…
